Most reports about this forum have been positive. It has a clear easy to navigate interface and the members are friendly. On the downside, there are some restrictions on new members, and there isn't a huge amount of activity on the boards. So if you're looking for a reply right away, this might not be the forum for you.

  1. I've enjoyed being a member of this forum as well. I'm guessing those restrictions are to make sure new members are legit and not spammers or post-and-run people.

I used to enjoy being on this site but more and more it's being taken over by cliques. The poetry section in particular is just awful now, just a place for certain few people to hang out and chat with one another. The actual literary quality of the site has deteriorated over the past year, in my view. That's why I left.

I might lurk over there a bit, and see what it's like before joining. I'm extremely hesitant to join any writing board these days, especially if the focus doesn't seem to be on writing. It looks better than The Water Cooler, but honestly what doesn't?

The above though doesn't exactly give me a good feeling.

In terms of literary quality this site has gone downhill completely. No quality control at all. Don't waste your time with it.

I have watched the boards for several weeks with a view to joining. Sadly, this is yet another forum with a few resident trolls entertaining themselves with online bullying. Fair amount of poison pen for such a small and stagnant community and writing standard is poor overall. Not worth the bother.

The website server doesn't play well with my computer, and switching to different browsers doesn't seem to make a difference. Parts or links are often out of order and even when it works it's often a very slow response. Sometimes it goes over a month with links that don't work properly. As I write this the site is completely non functional, I found this review site by trying to find out why.

They also have rules about the ratio of "serious posts" to other people's forums, to your own creation of forum topics. Those rules force participants to comment regularly in other people's forums, so lots of members frequently post comments in other people's forums without bothering to read more than the title, or even understand what the forum is about. Those meaningless posts abound and the Web Host, Autumn I think, argues with folks all the time over their lack of participation in other people's forums. She also seems to think authors should stit by their computer after posting a topic, so they can respond to commenters in semi real time. Since it can sometimes be hours before anyone posts I often post one day and then check in and respond the next day to the activity. She frequently criticizes me for the delay and is constantly reminding people they are obligated to comment on other people's forums.

If you like to discuss a specific topic, like Baptist theology, and are not interested in other topics you will find it very difficult. A forum you post might be wildly popular and keep you quite busy responding, but if you don't participate in other people's forums, the hosting website monitor will cut you off and kick you out. According to Autumn the Host, the site would not have any activity if posters were not FORCED to participate in forums they have no interest in
